Plant juice

Plant juice, voodoo oils, essential oils. They can unite the best of friends. I have also seen them create quite a stir on many a social media discussion. How can something so small (one drop, two drops), be so polarizing?

It was January 2013. I had read a few blog posts and knew a total of THREE friends who had used essential oils or shared about them on social media. What caught my attention from 1/3 of those friends was that she posted personal, relevant uses for the oils.

She had a kid with allergies and eczema. I had a kid with allergies and eczema.

She had success with oils. I NEEDED success with something.

Anything.

Quite frankly, we had run out of options and hit a wall in trying to help our oldest daughter. You name it, we had tried it. It was exhausting meeting new doctors who would inevitably ask us to list all of the medications, creams, ointments, wet wraps, warm baths, cool baths, etc, that we had tried. We had also cleared our home of my favorite candles (because of asthma), and any other things that contained fragrances (because of asthma and eczema).

Could essential oils provide what we had been searching for?

Would they be the answer to, "is there something else I can use? Is there something else that is more natural to help our family, and specifically our daughter?"

One evening, slightly on a whim, mostly out of desperation, I decided to give these plant oils a try. The same way I had given just about every other lotion or cream or remedy on the market a try. I had no idea if I would be tossing money out the proverbial window. Or, if by some serendipitous moment, this would be a missing piece of our puzzle.

Only time would tell.
