Seeds of greatness
I grew up in a family who pretty much threw a party at the sighting of the first Texas wildflowers of Spring. Alright, maybe not a party, but we definitely had our fair share of loading up to take a drive, however long, to see the wild flowers.
The colors of Spring in Texas are amazing, but of all the colors that paint the Texas highways, there is nothing quite like the bluebonnet and the sea of blue that is created when you find an entire field of them.
Near where we live, we frequently pass a little brown hill on our daily drive. Sometimes we talk about how "the hill" looks so incredibly different when the bluebonnets are not there. And then, one day in early Spring, without notice and without fail, they begin to sprout. First as little puffs of green, and then these little blue flowers return.
Year after year, they make their grand appearance.
Their seeds remain.
For as long as I can remember, they have been there. Most see the bluebonnets as a symbol of Texas, but to me they are much more. They are a symbol of hope and a symbol of promise.
That simple little brown hill, now covered in blue, reminds me that even when no one else sees it, there is a mighty seed inside.
A seed of greatness.
